30 years ago, Dunedin was first in the world to be introduced to cow cocky and rugby fanatic, Dickie Hart. Playwright Roger Hall chose the Fortune Theatre to premiere C’mon Black, Dickie’s tale of his South African trip to the 1995 Rugby World Cup.
The play was a hit and went on to tour New Zealand to sell-out crowds, as did You Gotta Be Joking, Dickie’s next adventure when he and wife Glenda retired to town.
Now - at END OF SUMMERTIME - Dickie and Glenda have moved to Auckland to be nearer the grandchildren, who really just want to be nearer their phones. And Dickie's sharing his guide to living in that big bad city we love to hate.
Join the irreverent, irrepressible Dickie Hart - in END OF SUMMERTIME by the country's favourite playwright, with acclaimed actor Peter Hayden as Dickie.
Roger Hall has been making the country laugh for over five decades and through the years Dunedin audiences have flocked to his plays - so much so that 13 of the top 20 most popular productions ever presented by the Fortune Theatre were written by Roger; Four Flat Whites in Italy and The Share Club coming in at first and second.
End of Summertime has recently seen full houses in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland.
